L.E. Smith Company History
1950
Lawrence Edward (L.E.) Smith begins selling metal moldings for countertop edges. His first “office” is in his father’s chicken hatchery behind the family home
1960
L. E. purchases one of the first post-forming machines and begins fabricating laminate kitchen countertops
1960
L.E. Smith ownership transitions to L.E.’s two oldest sons
1972
L. E. Smith begins distributing DuPont Corian® as one of the nation’s first wholesale distributors of solid surface
2006
L.E. Smith ownership transitions to five of L. E.’s grandchildren
2010
L. E. Smith strategically focuses the business on the fabrication of solid surface and laminate
2010
The L.E. Smith team begins innovating product lines to become a single-source supplier for clients

Laminate panels are added to the product line

Stone products are added to the commercial line

L.E. Smith proudly innovates the business to include two non-family female owners to align the business’ ownership with the long-standing female management.
